Liz, I'm making the Acorn Squash with Wild Rice and Walnuts for Shabbat tonight--the rice is awesome! I have been enjoying your blog for the past several months now. Many of our Shabbat meals have come from you--thanks! I noticed in one of your posts that you were influnced by the Moosewoods Cookbook--we used to live in Ithaca, NY--where the Moosewoods restaraunt is. I feel a kitchen kinship with you, not to mention that it is also my desire to be cooking in Isreal someday!
Anyway, many thanks for sharing your talents!
Shalom,

Faye, I haven't tried the kabocha yet, but I think I've seen them at the Carmel market. All sorts of interesting squash are popping up there now.

Looks and sounds delicious. Thanks for the link to the CSA article. Have you tried their kabocha squash? This squash can be delicious. It tastes sort of like a cross between a butternut squash and a sweet potato.

I love squash of all sorts and can't get over that it's a summer phenomenon here! Even knowing that it is in season I have a really hard time breaking my associations with squash and fall/winter. Strange how that happens. I definitely haven't seen acorn squash all that often, although they do pop up once in a while. This recipe looks absolutely delicious, I can't wait to try it! Are you back? Hope all is well.
